Arrays of planar solid state batteries are stacked in an aligned arrangement for subsequent separation into individual battery stacks. A redistribution layer (RDL) formed over each wafer includes conductive traces extending laterally from positive and negative battery contacts; conductive vias couple together corresponding contacts of aligned batteries, ultimately becoming exposed conductive channels of each battery stack.
