An implantable capacitive pressure sensor includes a first portion with a diaphragm electrode connectable to ground (positioned so it deforms in response to body pressure) and a second portion with a signal electrode and an insulator material. The signal electrode is provided on and in direct contact with the insulator to electrically isolate it so parasitic capacitance effects on the signal electrode are reduced.
